When You Think of Handcrafted Jewellery

If you are thinking macaroni necklaces and hippie style beaded earrings when you hear the term handcrafted jewellery, you have likely not spent any time at craft exhibitions and shows in the last few years. Handcrafted jewellery has really come into its own with a variety of different metals, styles, semi-precious gems and stones as well as non-traditional jewellery materials. Handcrafted jewellery is often a one of a kind item, making this an ideal gift idea for that hard to buy for person on your Christmas or birthday list. Handcrafted jewellery also is in high demand for bridal parties and special events as the wearer is sure to draw attention and comments on the unique jewellery they are wearing, and at Blingz the Thing I offer a free no obligation bridal consultation to help you decide on the perfect jewellery for your wedding.

Unique Accessories

The accessory can make an outfit stand out or provide just the right amount of dazzle to match the style you hope to project. One type of accessory you can consider is a piece of unique handmade jewellery.

Imagine a strapless gown that you found in a little shop. How could you make it better? Consider adding a necklace or perhaps a pair of earrings to the outfit. Depending on the style of the item you add, you can change the entire look of a simple outfit. When you consider a special piece of jewellery, finding handmade items can be your best choice because the chance of another person having the same piece of jewellery is remote. Instead of having the mass produced bracelet that everyone is wearing, you can find an unique handmade piece that reflects your unique style as well.

Why buy Handmade

You are unique! Your style is original and so should your jewellery be. If you are not wearing originally designed, unique handmade jewellery then you are missing out on a world full of fashion and style. Custom made jewellery can show off your personality, and your uniqueness.  Do you really want to go somewhere and be wearing the same necklace, earrings or bracelet as someone else.

We think of hope for all the good times we will get to share with friends and family as weather changes from cold and dreary to warm and cheery. Jewellery connoisseurs think in terms of finding fashionable pieces that are as fun and versatile to wear as the other accessories in their wardrobe. And so, they choose citrine because it fulfills all the requirements that make it a good choice for summer wear.

Whats my Style

In going through my jewelry photos from the last few years, it's clear to me that I have no style. And by "no style" I just mean that there's no one defining theme among the different pieces I've designed over the years. There are so many types of pieces I like to create that I've never settled on one ... well, style.

Some people focus on creating with semi-precious stones. Which I use.

Others focus only on Swarovski crystals. Which I also use.

Some love pearls...which I definitely do.

Others only work in metal. Again...I love to work with metals.

So where is my niche?

I think maybe in the next few months I’ll see if I actually have one. :) Maybe it's the Attention Deficit Disorder talking, but I really think that being eclectic is something I need to embrace. If I work with stones one day and freshwater pearls the next, maybe that's okay. And who says stones and Freshwater pearls can't go together?

One thing I know...making jewelry is my passion, it drives me and inspires me and does it really matter if I have a particular style…….

Interview with myself

 Interview with myself

Describe your artistic style.
My artistic style honestly varies from day to day. I see pieces and think about what best

will make that bead come alive. I make pieces for the girly girl with lots of sparkle and
glam, as well as pieces for the modern woman that will complement any outfit from day
to night. I like to make pieces that are unique and stylish. I am continually growing and
learning different techniques to add into my designs.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?

I cannot really pin down what inspires me to create each unique piece. Many times, there’s
something about the colors, shapes and layout of my materials that just speaks to me:  I have
always loved to do artistic things, and with the enticing world of beads, and their myriad of
shapes, colors, and textures, the design possibilities are endless. I am always thinking about
new ways to put designs together so that each component is enhanced by those around it,
and with the intention that each piece of jewelry is unique as the person wearing it.  "I'll see
certain colors and shapes and I just have to put them together!"
